About the movie
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl is an action-packed adventure set in an era when villainous pirates lurked in the Caribbean waters. The film is loosely set in the early 1700’s and is full of intrigue, suspense, and humor. It is beloved by many and is the first of five Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
The movie, which was released in 2003, was inspired by the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at Disney theme parks around the globe. The ride was developed by Walt Disney himself.
the Tablescape & Decor
Create the ambiance of a haunted pirate ship with our simple decorating tips. To create a table worthy of a pirate feast, use tattered black cheesecloth to create a runner. We left our table bare but you could use a dark colored tablecloth if you prefer.
The pirates are enjoying their feast surrounded by loot that was stolen. They are eating off china set atop gold chargers with crystal goblets and elegant vintage silver. Sitting atop each place setting is a miniature skeleton tied onto a black cloth napkin. Guests will enjoy taking the skeleton home to remember their night upon the Black Pearl.
Send your guests home with plenty of loot! Gold coins, jewels, and beads can be added to a simple drawstring bag. In addition, we made edible jewels to send home with the guests. These are just candy melts in various colors that were created using this Wilton jewel mold.
Create a spooky ambiance with dim lights, lots of candles, empty glass bottles, and some skulls with painted gold teeth nestled in a bed of fresh fruit. We added a treasure chest filled with gold coins and jewels and some tropical greens.
This creepy mast was fun and easy to create. It uses just three items and a is very quick to put together. We used tattered black cheese cloth as the sails but you could also use fabric or a real pirate flag. Get our easy and quick tutorial here to make your own haunted pirate ship mast.
The Menu
When the pirates fell under the Aztec curse, Barbossa and his crew suffered a living death unable to feel or taste anything. They longed to be mortal so that they could once more enjoy food. This feast celebrates the flavors of the Caribbean. Get links to all the recipes below.
Caribbean Sea Breeze
This non-alcoholic tropical drink is refreshingly light and fruity. It is also a gorgeous sea blue color! Create it using our simple recipe and garnish it with beautiful fruits – a twisted orange slice, a wedge of pineapple, or a vibrant red cherry! Get our recipe here.
Caribbean Feast
This platter of Caribbean delights is flavorful and delicious! It includes jerk lentils, mac & cheese, sauteed kale, rice & peas, tortillas, fried plantains, and channa – a delicious Caribbean flavored sauce.
We chose plant based offerings for our feast, but smoked meats were commonly eaten by pirates. We love the Vegan Caribbean Feast recipe from Rachel Ama.
Captain Jack Sparrow's Cupcakes
These dark fudge cupcakes are nestled in a pirate shipped wrapped and are topped with rich buttercream and a pirate sail. They are so fun to serve and are delicious. They’re sure to be a hit with your guests! Get our chocolate fudge cupcake with buttercream frosting recipe here. You can download a similar pirate cupcake wrapper and sail kit from Etsy here. The sails are customizable so you can leave them blank and include a birthday or party greeting.
Pirate Hook Brownie Bites
Though there aren’t any Pirates of the Caribbean characters with a hook, these brownie bites were just too cute not to include. I got the idea from Disney Eats by Joy Howard.
buried Treasure Pudding Cups
Our daughter dreamed up this fun recipe! It uses just a few simple ingredients and is quick and easy to create. Get our recipe here. Chocolate pudding is layered with round gold sprinkles and topped with crushed graham cracker crumbs. Two single strands of red Twizzlers formed an “X” on the top. “X” marks the spot! We served our pudding cups in our favorite Tableluxe tasting cups.
Gold Doubloons
We created these gold doubloons using oreo cookies, candy melts, and gold sanding sugar. They are yummy, super easy to make, and a lot of fun for guests to eat!
