This Disney 4th of July table setting started with the gingham. Blue and white gingham reads as classic Americana while giving a backdrop that complements our favorite melamine Disney plates and serving tray.
This setting is built for an afternoon gathering rather than an evening dinner — a backyard 4th of July party, a Memorial Day cookout, or any casual summer gathering where kids and adults are eating from the same table.

Red, White, and Blue Disney Table Setting Details
The base layer is a white tablecloth with a blue gingham tablecloth laid over the center, which lets the white show at the edges and keeps the gingham from overwhelming the whole table. Round woven blue placemats sit under each place setting, adding texture.
The plates are part of Kohl’s Celebrate Together Disney collection. They offer affordable Disney dinnerware and serving pieces for holidays and offer a new collection each season. Red-handled flatware sits at each setting, and the milk bottles with navy and white star-print straws add a fun farmhouse vibe.
Each place setting includes two napkins: a red paper napkin layered with a rocket-shaped paper napkin from My Mind’s Eye.
The centerpiece is a weathered white wooden tray filled with a loose, garden-style arrangement —florist foam, red poppies, white button mums, orange poppies, , white daisies, small American flags , and a DIY Mickey shaped pick made from a bamboo skewer, star scrapbooking paper and a Mickey cookie cutter tucked directly into the arrangement. The arrangement is intentionally casual, airy, and whimsical. If you don’t have a wooden tray, any low rectangular vessel works — a galvanized tray or a wooden box from a craft store holds the same loose, low-profile shape.
The ice cream bars are served on a Mickey-print melamine platter from Kohl’s that matches the dinner plates.
Patriotic Mickey Ice Cream Bars
This table is built around one dessert: Patriotic Mickey Ice Cream Bars, served straight from the freezer at the moment guests sit down. Store-bought Mickey ice cream bars get a melted white almond bark drizzle and a scattering of red, white, and blue sprinkles, applied bar by bar so the topping sets before it slides. The whole process takes about five minutes and turns a freezer staple into something that looks like it belongs on a styled dessert table. Get the full method and timing notes in the Patriotic Mickey Ice Cream Bars recipe.

Pull serving pieces, the wooden tray, platters, and any decor pieces you still need. Order the rocket-shaped napkins from My Mind’s Eye — they’re not always available locally. Confirm your guest list and whether this is a casual backyard cookout, a kids’ party, or an afternoon gathering, since that will shape how much food you want to add around the dessert.
Two to three days before
Shop for fresh flowers if you have access to them — red poppies, white daisies, and button mums or dahlias. Fresh poppies in particular can be difficult to source outside of a specialty florist or farmers market, so if you can’t find them locally, a high-quality silk arrangement works beautifully. We’ve linked silk poppies, white daisies, and button mums on Amazon as an easy alternative.
Pick up the Mickey ice cream bars and keep them in the freezer. Gather the almond bark and patriotic sprinkles so everything is ready to go the morning of.
Day before
Set the tablescape. Lay the white tablecloth and gingham topper, arrange the placemats, stack the plates, and fill the wooden crate with your flower arrangement — fresh or silk — and flags. One advantage of silk flowers here is that the centerpiece can be assembled days ahead and stored, which makes the morning of entirely relaxed.

Prep any food additions you’re serving alongside the ice cream bars — the Rocket Dogs can be baked and held warm, the fruit kabobs can be assembled and refrigerated. Decorate the Mickey ice cream bars right before guests arrive or just before dessert is served, working one bar at a time so the almond bark sets properly. Pull them from the freezer only when you’re ready to serve.
If you’re wondering whether you can decorate the Mickey ice cream bars ahead of time, the answer is yes — once decorated, return them to the freezer on a parchment-lined tray until firm, then transfer to an airtight container.
A patriotic Disney tablescape for the 4th of July doesn’t require an elaborate menu or a complicated setup. Whether you’re setting this for a backyard afternoon or a Memorial Day cookout, the table comes together quickly and will be the backdrop for good food and easy summer entertaining.
