Spell Book Brownies
The Spell Book from Hocus Pocus was given to Winifred by the Devil himself. It was written in blood and had a cover made of human skin. Eeek! These Hocus Pocus Spell Book Brownies are far from evil but are devilishly delightful and very fun to make. They were featured on our Hocus Pocus Disney dinner and are perfect for a party or movie night.
Spell Book Brownies
Makes 6 brownies
Ingredients:
- Brownie mix
- Large candy eyes
- Black gel icing
Instructions:
- Prepare batter – Line an 8×8 baking dish with parchment paper. Set aside. Preheat the oven and prepare brownie batter according to package instructions. Pour batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top with a rubber spatula.
2. Bake – Bake according to package instructions. Allow brownies to cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Next carefully transfer the brownies to the cooling rack.
3. Cut – When fully cooled remove parchment paper and transfer to a large cutting board. Using a serrated knife, trim off the edges and cut into six 2×3” rectangles.
4. Decorate – To decorate the brownies:
- Use black gel icing to add a large candy eye to the right side of each brownie.
- Add black gel icing around the perimeter of the eye.
- Draw a squiggly line along the left hand spine of the book.
- Draw a straight line just to the right of the squiggly line.
- Draw small stitches through the straight line.
- Add round details to the bottom and top right hand corners of the book.
