This Mickey Patriotic Waffle Board arranges two golden Mickey waffles in the center of a round serving tray, surrounded by a ring of red and blue star waffles, fresh strawberries, blueberries, mini marshmallows, and red and blue M&Ms. It’s an easy red, white, and blue brunch board made for 4th of July mornings, Memorial Day gatherings, and any Disney-themed celebration where you want to add a festive touch.
Splitting one batch of waffle batter into three portions — red, blue, and plain — means you only need one recipe to make the whole board. The plain batter goes into the Mickey waffle maker for the centerpiece, and the tinted batters go into a mini star waffle maker for the border. One waffle gets a strawberry bow on top for a Minnie touch. The colors flow around the tray — strawberries into the blue stars on one side, red stars into blueberries on the other — framing the Mickey waffles in the center.
How to Make the Mickey Patriotic Waffle Board

Mickey Patriotic Waffle Board
Equipment
- 7" Mickey waffle maker
- 4" mini star waffle maker
- 20-24" round serving tray
- 3 mixing bowls
Ingredients
- Favorite waffle batter
- Red food coloring
- Blue food coloring
- Fresh blueberries
- Strawberries, halved
- Mini marshmallows
- Red and blue M&Ms
Instructions
- Prepare your favorite waffle batter according to the recipe. Divide the batter into three portions: half left untinted, one quarter tinted red with food coloring, and one quarter tinted blue with food coloring. Stir each portion until the color is even.
- Using the Mickey waffle maker, cook 2 plain Mickey waffles with the untinted batter.
- Using the mini star waffle maker, cook 5 star waffles with the red batter and 5 star waffles with the blue batter.
- Place the 2 Mickey waffles in the center of the round tray. Top one waffle with 2 strawberry halves arranged side by side near the top to create a Minnie-style bow.
- Arrange the strawberry halves in a curved line along one side of the tray, sweeping from the bottom up toward one side of the Mickey waffles. Follow the strawberries with the blue star waffles, continuing the same curve around toward the top of the tray.
- On the opposite side, arrange the red star waffles in a curved line, then follow with a generous border of fresh blueberries, completing the ring around the other side of the Mickey waffles.
- Fill any remaining open space around the center waffles with mini marshmallows. Sprinkle red and blue M&Ms throughout the marshmallows for a finishing pop of color.
- Serve with maple syrup, whipped cream, or berry compote alongside.
Tips and Tricks
- Tint the batter gradually — add food coloring a few drops at a time and stir before adding more. Gel food coloring gives you a more vivid color without thinning the batter the way liquid coloring can.
- Can the waffles be made ahead? Yes, cook all the waffles, let them cool on a wire rack, and store covered in the refrigerator. To reheat, cover with foil and warm in a 350°F oven for 8 minutes before assembling the board.
- Cook the star waffles in batches by color to avoid any bleeding between the red and blue batter in the waffle maker. Wipe the iron clean between colors if you notice any color transfer.
- Build the board just before serving. The fresh berries and marshmallows are best added right before guests sit down — strawberries especially will start to release juice onto the tray if they sit too long.
- A 20-24″ round tray gives you enough room for the full color sweep around the Mickey waffles without crowding. If your tray is smaller, scale down the number of star waffles and berries proportionally rather than overlapping everything tightly.
This board comes together quickly once the waffles are made, and most of that work can happen ahead of time — tint the batter, cook everything, and reheat just before guests arrive.
