Madame Leota Charcuterie Board
Ingredients
- Variety of Cheeses: We served three cheese on this board including sage derby cut into a glass ball shape, sliced blueberry chevre, and brie cut into a coffin shape. In addition, you will need to print an image of Madame Leota onto a piece of clear transparent film.
- Breads, Flatbreads & Crackers: We chose to serve whole grain flatbreads, rye melba rounds, and pretzel bites for their dark color.
- Fresh & Dried Fruits: We chose fruits in dark red, blue and purple shades including plums, pomegranates, black, red & concord grapes, and blackberries.
- Spreads: We used raspberry preserves to look like blood on the brie coffin.
Instructions
1. To create the Madame Leota glass ball, first print a Madame Leota image onto transparent film. We used this image. We printed it around 3 inches across and used a 3 inch bowl as a template and cut around it.
Next, we used the same 3 inch bowl to cut out a round shape from a piece of green derby cheese. We left a base on the cheese to resemble Madame Leota’s glass ball. Arrange the Madame Leota image over the cheese round and place in the center of your favorite serving board or tray. Our serving tray is no longer available, but this one is similar.
2. To create the coffin brie, we used a ruler to trace a coffin shape onto a round of brie. After etching the desired shape into the surface of the brie, carefully cut it out. Place a dollop of raspberry preserves in the center of the coffin and drive a cheese knife through it. Place the coffin cheese to the left of Madame Leota’s glass ball.
3. Carefully slice the blueberry chevre and place to the right of Madame Leota’s glass ball. When slicing this delicate cheese, you may find it helpful to wipe your knife clean between slices.
4. Add large clusters of grapes, sliced plums and blackberries opposite Madame Leota.
5. Fill in open areas with flatbreads, crackers, and breads.
