If you’ve visited Cars Land in Disneyland you are probably familiar with the Cozy Cone filled with bacon mac & cheese. Cozy cones are the ultimate comfort food. Flaky and buttery puff pastry holds creamy mac & cheese with bacon. These cones take just 30 minutes to make and use only four ingredients: puff pastry, egg, your favorite mac & cheese, and bacon bits. They’re delicious, fun to eat, and a great dish to serve for a movie night or party. These mac & cheese Cozy Cones were served on our Cars Movie Night.
Mac & Cheese Cozy Cones
Makes 6 cones
Ingredients:
- 1 sheet (½ box) puff pastry
- 6 sugar cones
- Aluminum foil
- Parchment paper
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 cups prepared macaroni & cheese
- Bacon bits
Instructions:
- Cut one sheet of puff pastry into thirds along fold lines. Cut each section into 4 strips approximately ¾” wide and 12 inches long. Set aside.
Prepare ice cream cones by wrapping each first in a 6 inch square of foil followed by a 6 inch square of parchment paper.
Beginning at the tip of the cone, begin wrapping a strip of puff pastry. Overlap slightly as you work your way toward the open end of the cone. Each cone will use 2 strips of puff pastry. When the cone is covered, set upright on a baking sheet and brush with beaten egg. Repeat with other cones.
Bake for 18-20 minutes at 400 degrees until puffy and golden. Let cool completely. Once cool, fill with mac & cheese and sprinkle with bacon bits.
