Captain America’s shield is one of the most recognizable images in the Marvel universe and his iconic look translates surprisingly well to a charcuterie board. This Captain America Star Charcuterie Board is built on a round wood tray with folded salami, a star-filled brie wheel with raspberry jam, sliced swiss and white cheddar, assorted crackers, cherries, strawberries, blueberries, and red grapes, with white cheese stars scattered throughout. It’s a patriotic party board made for Captain America gatherings, 4th of July cookouts, and Memorial Day.
The brie is the centerpiece of the board and the detail that pulls the whole theme together. Slicing the wheel in half, cutting a star from the top half with a cookie cutter, and spreading raspberry jam on the bottom before reassembling it reveals a deep red jam star. The reserved brie star goes back onto the board as an extra piece, and the white cheese stars cut from swiss and cheddar echo the star motif throughout the rest of the tray.
How to Make the Captain America Star Charcuterie Board

Captain America Star Charcuterie Board
Equipment
- Large round wood serving tray
- Sharp chef's knife
- 3" star cookie cutter
- 1½" star cookie cutter
- Small spreading knife
Ingredients
- 1 (8 oz.) brie wheel
- Raspberry jam
- Folded salami
- 1 block Swiss cheese, sliced into wedges
- 1 block white cheddar, sliced into wedges
- Assorted crackers
- Cherries
- Strawberries
- Blueberries
- Red grapes
Instructions
- Prepare the brie: Using a sharp knife, slice the brie wheel horizontally in half to create two equal rounds. Press a 3" star cookie cutter firmly into the center of the top half and cut through cleanly. Lift the star shape out and set aside.
- Spread a generous layer of raspberry jam over the cut surface of the bottom half of the brie. Place the top half back over the jam, aligning the edges. The star cutout will reveal the jam beneath. Place the assembled brie in the center of the round tray.
- Slice the Swiss and white cheddar blocks into wedges. Using a 1½" star cookie cutter, cut star shapes from a few of the cheese slices. Set the stars aside and arrange the remaining wedges in sections around the tray.
- Arrange the folded salami in loose ruffled sections around the brie, filling in the areas between the cheese wedges.
- Tuck crackers into any open sections along the outer edge of the tray, fanning them for easy access.
- Fill the remaining open spaces with strawberries, blueberries, cherries, and red grapes, working inward toward the brie until the tray is full.
- Scatter the white cheese stars across the top of the board, placing them over the salami, fruit, and cheese sections. Place the reserved brie star on the board alongside the wheel.
Tips and Tricks
- Let the brie come to room temperature before assembling — cold brie is harder to cut cleanly. Pull it from the refrigerator about 30 minutes before you build the board.
- Press the star cookie cutter straight down with firm, even pressure. A clean cut gives you a sharp star shape that holds its edges when the top half is lifted away.
- Can this board be made ahead? The brie can be assembled up to a day ahead and refrigerated. Build the full board no more than 2 hours before serving — the crackers will soften and the fruit will lose its freshness beyond that.
- A round tray works best for this board — the circular shape naturally mirrors the Captain America shield and gives you a clear center point to work outward from. We used our favorite large round wood serving tray; you can find a similar one here.
- Use white cheeses throughou to keep the red, white, and blue color scheme.
- This board pairs naturally with the Stars & Stripes Fruit Kabobs, Rocket Dogs, and Captain America Shield Cheesecake for a complete Captain America party spread.
