Mickey Fruit Snacks
Ingredients:
- Cantaloupe, sliced into 1/2″ thick pieces
- Blueberries, washed and dried
- Apple, cut into thin wedges
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Pink or red candy melts
- White nonpareils
- Large strawberries, washed and dried
- White candy pearls
Equipment:
- 1″ heart cookie cutter
- 2″ heart cookie cutter
- Waxed paper
Instructions:
1. Cantaloupe – Use a 2″ heart cookie cutter to cut out heart shapes from the cantaloupe slices. Discard scraps. Next cut a large blueberry in half. Set aside. Cut a small blueberry in half. Use the large blueberry pieces to form Mickey’s face on top of each cantaloupe heart. Use the small blueberry halves to create ears. Repeat with remaining cantaloupe hearts and blueberries.
2. Apples – Create a mixture of 1 cup water and 1 tablespoon lemon. Soak the apple wedges in the solution for 3-5 minutes. Drain and rinse them. Then pat dry and allow to sit until completely dry.
In the meantime, prepare a work surface with waxed paper. Melt red or pink candy melts according to package instructions. Dip each apple wedge into candy melts. Allow the excess candy melts to drip off the apple and place on waxed paper to dry. Arrange white nonpareils on top of each wedge to create polka dots. Repeat with remaining apples.
3. Strawberries – Cut the top of a strawberry off and slice in half lengthwise. Use a 1″ heart cookie cutter to cut out a heart shape. Discard scraps. Use a toothpick to add a small dot of melted candy coating on two candy pearls. Adhere to the strawberry to make Mickey’s buttons. Repeat with remaining strawberries.
This Mickey fruit snack platter proves that fresh food can be just as festive as dessert. Bright, colorful, and thoughtfully arranged, it’s a simple detail that brings charm to a Valentine’s Day table or Disney-themed gathering. Whether you recreate every element or draw inspiration from the shapes and colors, this platter is a sweet reminder that even the simplest ingredients can feel magical.
